What is the Sierra College Faculty Association?

The Sierra College Faculty Association (SCFA) is recognized by the Sierra Community College District as the exclusive representative for the College's faculty, pursuant to District Resolution No. 76-19, as amended.

SCFA advances the general welfare of faculty as the exclusive bargaining representative of all part-time and full-time faculty in matters relating to employment conditions and employer-employee relations and grievances, including but not limited to, wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

To the SCFA E-board,

Thank you for volunteering to struggle with these difficult issues on our behalf. I appreciate that you spend considerable time in meetings trying to determine a plan of action that would benefit the broad and diverse interests of our union constituency. As our individual interests and needs are quite diverse and the pot you are attempting to divvy up is so small, you are making recommendations to us that will inevitably lead to disagreement. For this, I'm sure, you will receive much blame and little thanks. So, thank you. Finally, it is not the case that every disagreement inevitably creates a good/just/moral perspective and an evil/unjust/immoral perspective. I appreciate the various perspectives being argued via email as it helps to inform my vote. I recognize that those with whom I disagree are not immoral, evil, and smelly. . . well, maybe they are smelly.
